Skin Resurfacing

What is fractional skin resurfacing?

Fractional skin resurfacing is an effective procedure to slow the effects of aging and restore your skin, so you can look and feel younger.* At Refine Medical, we use the Fractora laser device on our patients. Fractora delivers improvements for a broad range of symptoms all in one treatment.* You can expect to have a more even skin tone & texture, less visible wrinkles and a sense of decreased gravity.* Fractora is also one of the most effective treatments for persistent acne and acne scarring.*

Fractora delivers targeted bipolar radiofrequency (RF) energy to various, controllable depths in the skin. This treatment uses ablation, which means that it does remove some skin and there will be some downtime involved as you recover. When RF energy is delivered to the skin through an array of pins, heat is produced and localized into small dots.* The gentle heat of the laser hits the sub-dermal tissue and promotes collagen restructuring for skin rejuvenation.* By scattering micro-lesions in the treated area, it allows the skin to heal faster than if it were to be ablated in a larger area.* The majority of repair will be down under the skin, giving you amazing results and limiting the appearance of damage.*

What to expect during your appointment

Before you begin treatments, we will cover the procedure during your initial consultation. Dr. Pamela Mondorf will be able to determine if these treatments are the best option for you. Before we begin the procedure, a topical numbing cream will be applied to the treated area in order to keep you feeling comfortable.* The topical cream will be kept on longer than with other laser treatments, due to ablation. Dr. Mondorf will then select the appropriate Fractora laser tip to provide the best results for your specific skin issues. The laser tip is applied directly to the skin, and a cold air chiller is used at the same time to reduce the heat.* Multiple passes will be done to each area for the best results.* More sensitive and thin-skinned areas may also be a bit more sensitive (like the forehead or jawline) and we will adjust accordingly.

What to expect from the results

Each treatment lasts approximately 1 hour. After the first treatment, you should see noticeable improvements.* For the best results, 2-3 sessions, spaced 3-4 months apart are recommended.* The downtime after sessions is usually 2-3 days.*
